Introduction to Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is the largest panda breeding facility in the world, housing more than 100 giant pandas.

The Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding is not only a giant panda breeding and research facility but also an ecological park that simulates the wild habitat of giant pandas.

Here, you can observe pandas through fences or glass windows, and if you’re lucky, you might even see them outdoors. With a bit more luck, you could witness newborn pandas in the maternity ward.

Villa 1 and Villa 2
Villa 1 and Villa 2 are the habitats for adult giant pandas, where you can see them engaging in their daily activities such as playing, eating, and sleeping.

Moon and Sun Maternity Wards
The Moon and Sun Maternity Wards are where giant pandas give birth and care for their young. These areas are also home to newborn and young pandas. Every afternoon from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM, the newborn pandas gather together. The panda babies in the Moon and Sun Maternity Wards are definitely worth seeing.

The Panda Research Base displays a wide range of practical specimens, including fossils, anatomical remains, and dietary samples. Additionally, it features a Giant Panda Museum, research laboratories, and a training center.

Walking from the Panda Playground to the Red Panda Playground, you’ll likely encounter red pandas roaming freely. They are as adorable as giant pandas and can be even more endearing.
